The Krone Collection preserves the endowment of the photographer, scientist, university
lecturer and publicist Hermann Krone (1827–1916). In 1907, he handed over the Historical
Didactic Museum for Photography »Historisches Lehrmuseum für Photographie« to the Scien-
ti fic-Photographic Institute »Wissenschaftlich-Photographisches Institut« at the Technical
College of Dresden, which was being founded at the time. The Scientific-Photographic Institute
is known today as the Institute of Applied Physics. It contains 137 instruction charts with around
1,200 photos and 10 tableaus featuring approximately 120 daguerreotypes, which were produc ed
using various techniques. Additionally, about 900 negatives, slides and stereoscopies as well
as interference colour photos are also part of the collection.
Another institute collection is comprised of about 450 objects of historic photographic tech-
nology, including handcrafted models and photographic devices, which have partly been
designed for special tests.
