As early as 1875, the Mechanical-Technological Collection had a separate room for various
measuring and weighing instruments. When the Professorship for Metrology and Inter-
changeable Manufacture was established in 1924 under the direction of Georg Berndt, a separate,
independent collection was also established. Today, this collection includes approximately 60
pieces of equipment, mainly length-measuring devices, including one, two and three coordinate
measuring instruments, as well as thread and gear measuring devices and optical alignment
and cone measuring devices.
