In addition to a variety of maps charting global development assistance, historical school wall
maps and a revolving globe from the GDR era, the collection also includes the first holographic
topographical map of the world, representing the Dachstein Massif in the Austrian Alps, and
a real 3D large-format colour display of a Martian canyon, where lenticular lens technology
was used. The heart of the collection consists of twelve landscape models, primarily mapping
two mountain massifs in Europa and Africa, produced by internationally leading experts be -
tween the First World War and ca. 2010. These are mainly made from plaster, and among
them are two reliefs containing geopolitical information. The collection also includes an in-
verse plexiglass relief model of the global seabed and an artistic wall relief of the Earth in papier-
mâché. Its largest landscape model, 330 x 220 cm, represents the Harz Mountains.
